DIALOGUE INVITATIONS AND EXCUSES
Mariona: Hey look, Clàudia. That DJ is playing again this weekend.
Clàudia: Yeah? Where's he playing?
Mariona: At The Warehouse on Friday.
Clàudia: Right. I'm definitely going to that. Would you like to go with me?
Mariona: I'd love to, but I'm afraid I can't. My parents wouldn't be very happy about it.
Clàudia: Go on! They wouldn't mind.
Mariona: No, sorry. I'm supposed to be going out with them that night anyway.
Clàudia: That's a shame. Oh well, do you fancy going out another night?
Mariona: I'll think about it, OK?
Clàudia: Yeah? Where's he playing?

DESCRIBING AN OBJECT
Mariona: Excuse me, I've lost a bag. Has anyone handed one in?
Woman: A bag? What sort of bag? What does it look like?
Mariona: It's a backpack. It's red and black.
Woman: A red and black blackpack. Hold on a minute. I'll go and have a look.
Mariona: OK, thanks.
Woman: No, sorry. I'm afraid we haven't got anything like that. Where did you last have it?
Mariona: I think I left it in the café.
Woman: What was in it? Were there any valuables?
Mariona: Well, my camera was in there, and a jacket.
Woman: OK. Well, leave your name and number and I'll contact you if it turns up.

RETURNING A PRODUCT
Clàudia: Hello. How can I help you?
Mariona: Oh, hello. I'd like to return this film, please.
Clàudia: OK. What's the problem with it?
Mariona: Well, it's scratched and it jumps. It was scratched when I played it.
Clàudia: Mmm, that's strange. When did you buy it?
Mariona: I only bought yesterday!
Clàudia: Have you got the receipt?
Mariona: Yes, here you are.
Clàudia: OK. Well, I can give you a refund, or do you want to choose another film?
Mariona: I'll choose another one, thanks.

WRITING An article: living with a disability
My name's Clàudia and I've been deaf since I was three. I had many problems in primary and secondary school but I'm at 4th of ESO now.
Life has always been difficult for me. For example, I have to listen to
the teachers very attentively and I have to be really careful and only read the books. I can look after myself OK, but I need help with one thing: taking notes in every class. I also have a special programme on my computer with some notes but it's not enough. There are some things which annoy me: I can't listen to music, for example. If I'm in a place like a disco or a loud bar, I can't listen to it. i don't care about my disability but sometimes I feel very sad. Usually people want to help me, but they want to help me when I don't need help!
